2018 APR 30 -- Day 19

I am under 370 lbs today! Wee! This is the lightest I have been yet since starting this weight-loss journey. The weight is coming off fairly fast. That's a total of 17.6 lbs since i began on April 12th, 2018. 17.6 lbs in 19 days! That's a rate of about .87 lbs per day. I'm sure that will slow down, but I hope it doesn't slow down too soon. I'd like to meet that short-term goal of getting into the 350s as soon as I possibly can.

Starting weight: 401 lbs
Current weight: 368.6 lbs
Long-term Goal: 145 lbs
Short-term Goal: 359 lbs

So now it's just 223.4 lbs to go to achieve my ultimate goal of weighing 145 lbs. i wonder if this is even possible sometimes. I'll take it one day at a time, one pound at a time, and hope for the best. It's going swimmingly so far. I'm really, really happy.

Did I mention how happy I am and how much energy I have on this Keto diet? My word! This is amazing.

i found another good doctor on the YouTube who discusses all things Keto: KenDBerryMD. He had one video that I just saw yesterday that changed the way I'm doing things. His video on what breaks a fast opened my eyes to the fact that the stevia sweetner I'm using may be spiking my insulin. What? Yeah! Apparently, any sweet taste tells my body to release insulin in preparation for a meal! Ugh!

I have been getting a bit hungrier of late during my fasting window. And yesterday, I was falling asleep at work! So my energy was low as well. I had been sipping on my "electrolyte juice" all day, every day. it has loads of stevia in it. I may have been sabotaging myself!

I fixed it. So the old recipe for the electrolyte juice was as follows:

6 C Ozarka water
2 tbsp Natural Calm magnesium supplement
1/2 tsp NoSalt potassium chloride salt substitiute
1/4 tsp pink Himalayan salt
6 tbsp apple cider vinegar with mother
1 packet of Koolaid flavor (either strawberry or cherry)
8 packets of Pyure stevia sweetner

I'd put about 16 oz of this into my ironic pineapple and sip away at it all day long. Now I have changed the formula to this:

6 C Ozarka water
2 tbsp Natural Calm magnesium supplement
1/2 tsp NoSalt potassium chloride salt substitiute
1/4 tsp pink Himalayan salt

It doesn't taste too bad. It's like mineral water. And after I drank my first 16 oz today, I patched things up with the porcelain fairy! Yay! So I will be doing this from now on.

Now I just need to figure out how I'm going to sneak in my apple cider vinegar. That stuff is disgusting taken straight. Also, the acid can damage teeth and the esophagus.

I found the best "electrolyte juice" recipe graph:

2017 OCT 25 -- Day 67

I don't have much to say today. I thought I had beaten the plateau, but it is still going strong. I'm the same weight today as I was yesterday. This is not fun, but now I sound like a bit of a broken record. I'm not going to say much today, so I'll share a recipe. Starting weight:  415 lbs Current weight: 378.2 lbs Long-term Goal:  145 lbs Short-term Goal:  359 lbs Japanese-style Ginger Salad Dressing This goes well as a coleslaw dressing. I've used it with a mix of classic cabbage slaw and Asian-style broccoli slaw. 1-1/2 C chopped yellow onion 1 C peanut oil 1/2 C rice wine vinegar 1/2 C water 3 tsp fresh ginger root, minced or grated 3-1/2 tsp fresh garlic, minced or grated 1 tsp salt 1 tsp pepper 4 tbsp lemon juice 4 tsp sugar 4 tsp soy sauce 4 tsp ground mustard 4 tsp sesame seeds Place all ingredients except sesame seeds into a small food processor and pulse for 1 minute, or until desired consistency.  Stir in sesame seeds. 2017 AUG 30 -- Day 11

I weighed myself before work again tonight. I like these lower numbers. I'm pretty sure this is due to not eating during sleep for at least 6 hours. Whatever the case, I'll take it! Yay! Low number! Starting weight:  415 lbs Current weight:  406.4 lbs  ⇩  Long-term Goal:  145 lbs Short-term Goal:  399 lbs I'm at work. It's 10:30 PM. I've been feeling the hungry growly monster in my tummy, but I've been ignoring him... until now. I'm eating my sandwich. According to the book, you are only supposed to feel hungry when you're body is below its set-point. Is my set point higher than 406.4 lbs? Wow! I need to find out how to lower that a lot faster. How can I make it 145 lbs? LOL. I know the answer to this. It gradually becomes lower over time; I must be patient. The trend is still downward on the whole, but right now it is still well above the first measurement I took at 404.8 the day I got my scale. It's going down, and I saw 406.4 lbs today ...

2017 SEP 1 -- Day 13

I splurged a bit on high-set-point food this weekend. I have regrets. I also have a rather large up-blip as a result. I ate pizza with my favorite toppings which is a very familiar flavor making it a more fattening food according to Seth's theory. Flavor recognition makes food more fattening, basically, because there are very strong flavor-calorie associations. Foods with very familiar flavors are called "ditto" foods, and ditto foods must be avoided. It's possible to change the flavor of the food so it is not a ditto food, but I didn't do that. The result: Starting weight:  415 lbs Current weight:  410.4 lbs  ⇧   Long-term Goal:  145 lbs Short-term Goal:  399 lbs This seems like a huge setback, but I'm going to ignore it for now and just keep truckin'. I'm sure I can drop it again in a few days as I did before. The graph of my numbers since starting is very reassuring. I now know how to regain control. I simply have to remember to use m...
